Services held Fri. for Carl Pankow
Carl F. Pankow, 87, died Tuesday, June 3, at the Oneota Riverview Care Facility.
Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on June 6 at the St. Benedict Catholic Church with Rev. Gary F. Krapfl presiding. Interment was at the St. Benedict Catholic Cemetery. Fjelstul Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Carl was born December 15, 1909 in Frankville, IA to Herman Carl Pankow and Louise Marie Gipp. He attended country school in the Frankville area.
On May 6, 1935 Carl married Catherine C. Casey in Decorah. They had four sons.
He worked as a driver and salesman for Bordens Ice Cream for many years along with construction, drove taxi cab for Noecker’s Cab and worked as a custodian for St. Benedict Church and school until his retirement.
Carl was a member of the St. Benedict Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Carl has been a resident of the Oneota Riverview Care Facility for the last two and a half years.
He is survived by four sons: Donald, Cresco, Robert, Dubuque, Marvin, Decorah and Wayne, Charles City; ten grandchildren; one brother, Ray Pankow, Decorah; one sister, Caroline “Minnie” Leidahl, Decorah.
Proceeding{sic} him in death were: his his{sic} wife; one granddaughter; parents; three sister{sic}: Irene Pankow, Lydia Vock, and Margaret Rudd, and one brother, John Pankow.
