Services held for Viola Olsen, 83
Funeral services for Viola M. Olsen were held September 11 at the Washington Prairie Lutheran Church in Decorah at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Kim. W. Smith and Rev. Phillip Olson officiating. Pall bearers were Fred Walter, Don Nelson, Ryan Nelson, Al Borlaug, Jerald Haugen and Lawrence Lucas. Interment was in Washington Prairie Lutheran Church Cemetery in Decorah. French and Balik Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Viola, 83, died September 7, 1998.
She was born in New York Mills, MN, July 15, 1915, the daughter of Elijah and Ida (Rebine) Abbott.
Viola married George Olsen on March 29, 1952 and resided in Nordness. There she operated a beauty shop for many years. After retiring they moved to Ridgeway.
She belonged to the Washington Prairie Lutheran Church and the American Legion.
Survivors include one son: Ronald Olsen of Cresco; one daughter: Donna Rothmeyer of Loveland, CO; one brother: William Abbott of St. Paul, MN; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Viola was preceded in death by her husband, George on November 3, 1995; her parents; three brothers: Harold, Harry and Larry Abbott; two sisters: Sally Harding and Mary Bacon; and her step father, Joe Fisher.
