Rose Humpal, 78, services held

Memorial services for Rose Humpal, 78, of rural Ridgeway, were held Saturday, April 4, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville with the Rev. Donald Hawes officiating. Interment was in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery. French and Balik Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Rose died March 28, 1998 at the Alverno Nursing Home in Clinton.

She was born March 30, 1919, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Ryant) Wandas in Fort Atkinson. She graduated from the Spillville Catholic School.

On October 3, 1939, Rose was united in marriage to Paul Humpal at the St Wenceslaus Church in Spillville. She farmed north of Spillville until moving into the rest home in Clinton in March 1998.

Survivors include five children: Gerald Humpal of Ridgeway; Paul Humpal of West Bend, WI; Sister M. Corona (Christine) of Omaha; Elmarie Hansen of Ames; and Paulette Arnes of Camanche; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Paul in 1952; her parents; and one sister, Anna Klimesh.
