Services held for Blanche Erickson

Funeral services for Blanche B. Erickson, 85, of Waukon were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 8, 1997, at Henrytown Lutheran Church. Pastor Gary Lee officiated. Interment was in the church cemetery with Lindstrom Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.

She died Tuesday, February 4, 1997, at her home in Waukon.

Blanche B. Erickson was born October 16, 1911, the daughter of Andrew and Martha (Benson) Erickson on a farmstead just north of Hesper, IA, on the Minnesota/Iowa line. She was baptized in Hesper and later confirmed at the Blackhammer Lutheran Church, north of Spring Grove, MN. She attended rural schools.

On March 29, 1933, Blanche was united in marriage to Alfred O. Erickson of rural Canton, MN. They spent the early years of their marriage dairy farming. In 1944, they moved to Mabel, MN. In 1960 they moved to Cresco. Four years after her husbands death she moved to Waukon.

Survivors include one daughter, Marilyn Nordheim of Decorah; three sons, Gale of Rochester; Gerald of Stewartville; and Robert of Waukon; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Adrian; one sister, Esther Fry; and three brothers, Grant, Ernest and Arnold Erickson.
