Funeral services were held for Dawn Doherty at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 3, at Resurrection Catholic Church in Rochester, MN, with the Rev. Donald Schmitz presiding. Interment was in St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in Spillville at 3:00 p.m. Pall bearers were Regi Vettraino, Robyn Vettraino, Don Kullot, Dawn Kullot, Traci Alcock, Chanda Bouska, Cherise Kristoffersen and Kevin Milz.
Dawn Renee Doherty died October 31, 1997 in Rochester, MN.
Born March 30, 1971 in Decorah to Carroll and Elaine Doherty, Dawn lived by Harmony, MN and attended Mabel-Canton Elementary through the sixth grade. In 1983, she moved with her family to Eyota, MN. She attended Dover-Eyota High School and was a member of the National Honor Society, School Band, and participated in volley ball and softball where she was awarded highest batting average in her senior year.
In the fall of 1988 at the age of 17, Dawn was diagnosed with Hodgkins Disease. In 1989, she graduated Dover-Eyota High School with honors. Dawn went on to attend Rochester Community College. Although her education was prolonged due to her illness, Dawn graduated in 1994 with honors in Business Administration. Dawn then pursued a four year degree at Winona State University, and later put her schooling on hold and chose to work part-time at the Rochester Post Bulletin.
Survivors include her parents; her brother, Darin; and her paternal grandmother, Helen Doherty.
Dawn was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Herman and Elvira Soukup; and her paternal grandfather, Leo Doherty.
