Funeral services held today

Funeral services were held today, Wednesday, August 6, for Christopher Bodensteiner of rural Riceville at a Mass of Resurrection 10:30 a.m. service with the Rev. John Moser and the Rev. Peter Bodensteiner officiating. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Riceville. Lindstrom Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Christopher Bodensteiner, 82, died at his home on Sunday, August 3, 1997.

Christopher was born May 7, 1915 in Ossian, the son of Joseph and Margaret (Drilling) Bodensteiner. He was united in marriage to Betty Petefish on September 28, 1940 at St. Ambrose Cathedral in Des Moines. He was a retired farmer.

He is survived by his wife, Betty of Riceville; four sons, Chris of Loveland, CO, Thomas of Clear Lake, Paul of Riceville and James of Riceville; four daughters, Mary Laskowski of Midland, TX, Margaret Gaia of Memphis, TN, Barbara Hanlon of Tulsa, OK and Ann Blickenderfer of Charles City; 13 grandchildren; six brothers, Leonard of Decorah, Marcellus of San Juan Capistrano, CA, Hugo of Clermont, Leo of Iowa Falls, Father Peter Bodensteiner of Lawler and Cletus of Long Beach, CA; and four sisters, Agnes Winter of Earlville, Evelyn Hawkins of Ossian, Lucille Fanning of Timonium, MD and Olivia Everitt of Fayette.

Christopher was preceded in death by his parents.
