Vern Betts, 76, services held
Funeral services for Vern Betts, 76, were held at 2:00 p.m. May 30 at Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco, with interment in United Lutheran Cemetery in Ridgeway.
Vern died Wednesday, May 27, 1998 at the Cresco Care Center.
He was born in Fremont Township near Kendallville on January 26, 1922, the son of William and Ida Ofstedahl Betts.
Vern graduated from Ridgeway High School and served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He was a welder in the California shipyards and Cresco, but spent most of his adult life as an antique dealer.
Survivors include: six sisters: Katherine Stinson of Cresco; Mildred Hall of Lincoln, ME; Ellen Stinson of Cresco; Beatrice Hovey of Cresco; Angeline Greenwood of Fridley, MN; and Betty Maley of Rochester, MN; and two brothers: Edwin of Agoura, CA, and Charles of Lanesboro, MN.
Vern was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Marguerite Bishop and Deloris Knutson, and one brother, Donald Betts.
