Services held for Christina Borseth, 103
Funeral services for Christina Borseth were held September 8 at 2:00 p.m. at Madison Lutheran Church in Ridgeway with Rev. Phillip Olson and Associate in Ministry, Ginny Olson officiating. Pall bearers were Randy Borseth, Roy Fulsaas, Gordon Fulsaas, Carlton Kjos, Merle Fulsaas and Francis Myran. Interment was in Madison Cemetery. French & Balik Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Christina, 103, died September 4, 1998.
Christina (Myran) Borseth was born July 31, 1895 in her log home farm in Madison Township, west of Decorah, to Helge and Kjersti (Ranstad) Myran. She was baptized August 25, 1895 at the Madison Lutheran Church by Rev. N. P. Xavier, and on May 29, 1910 she was confirmed by Rev. Thomas Nilssen.
She attended the neighborhood rural school through the eighth grade, and for religion classes, she attended the Norwegian school on the church property. She was a life-long member of Madison Lutheran Church.
Christina worked at home with her mother until she married. On December 24, 1919 she married Clarence Elmer Borseth at her parent’s home by Rev. D. C. Jordahl. Christina stayed at her farm home until September 27, 1983 when she became a resident of the Aase Haugen Home in Decorah.
Survivors include one daughter: Martha Ness of Minot, ND; one son: Clair Borseth of Decorah; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Christine was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence on April 14, 1974; two daughters: Cecil Charlotte and Edith Klotzbach; one son: Robert; and her parents.
