Funeral services for Mrs. Gilbert Melaas, who passed away at the Decorah hospital Monday evening, were held Friday afternoon at the Madison Lutheran church at 2 o'clock. The pastor, Rev. M. B. Quill officiated assisted by Rev. D. C. Jordahl of Decorah. Interment was in the cemetery adjoining the church. Mrs. Melaas, nee Gustina Gilbertson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Gilbertson was born in Madison Township Feb. 1, 1883. She grew to young womanhood at her home and on March 14, 1906 was united in marriage with Gilbert Melaas who preceded her in death on Oct 21, 1924. They made their home on a farm in Lincoln Township where she has lived since. Mrs. Melaas is survived by one daughter Myrtle Melaas, one son, Ove Melaas and her parents Mr. and Mrs. Ole Gilbertson of Madison, seven brothers, Carl and Oscar of Brinsmaid, N. D., Casper, Alfred, Gilbert, Spencer of Madison and Elmer of Ridgeway. Much sympathy is extended to the son and daughter and her parents, who mourn the departure of a loving and kind mother and daughter and to the relatives and host of friends who will miss her greatly.
