Mrs. Mary Ludwig

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ludwig, 78, were held Friday morning at 9:30 at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic church, with Rev. John P. Chihak officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Ludwig died Wednesday morning at 3:00 o’clock at the home of her son Adolph, following a several months’ illness. She was the former Mary Shimek and was born in Czechoslovakia. She came to America when three years old, and lived in this vicinity the most of her life. Following her marriage to John Ludwig the home was made on a farm west of Spillville. Her husband died many years ago. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Frank (Anna) Barloon of St. Atkinson, and one son Adolph of Spillville. She also leaves seven grandchildren, five brothers and two sisters: Thos., Jos., and Jas Shimek of the Maple Leaf vicinity; John and Frank Shimek of Spillville, Mrs.. Anna Ludwig and Mrs. Jennie Herold of Spillville. The St. Ann’s society of which Mrs. Ludwig was a member marched in a body and escorted the remains to the grave.

The pall bearers were all nephews of the deceased: Louis Busta, Francis Shimek, Frank Kuhn, William Kuhn, Martin Ludwig and Joseph Ludwig. The funeral was largely attended.
