Mitchell Lee Brincks

Mitchell Lee Brincks, 21, passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2003, from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 9 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Ossian with Msgr. Cletus Hawes officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mitchell was born on June 10, 1982 in Decorah, Iowa to Anthony and Marilyn (Gullickson) Brincks. He was welcomed home by his 2 older brothers, Shawn and Ryan Brincks. Mitchell was baptized on July 3, 1982 and confirmed on April 14, 2000 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Ossian, Iowa.

Mitchell attended DeSales Elementary School through the 8th grade. He then attended South Winneshiek High School, Calmar, Iowa, where he graduated in May of 2001. During his 4 years at South Winn he participated in football, basketball, golf, and baseball. After high school Mitchell attended Kirkwood Community College, Cedar Rapids, Iowa for one semester. He then transferred to Northeast Iowa Community College, Calmar, Iowa, where he was pursuing a career as an electrician. While attending school Mitchell was employed at Becker Hardware and had a lawn mowing service in Ossian.

Mitchell loved the outdoors where he was able to enjoy hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and spending time on the river with his friends. Mitchell was an avid sports participant. He enjoyed golfing, playing baseball, softball, and basketball. He loved playing all of these with his 2 older brothers, Shawn and Ryan. Mitchell spread his sincerity and heartfelt kindness throughout his family and friends. He looked forward to family and holiday gatherings where he could spend time relaxing with those he loved.

Mitchell was preceded in death by his grandfather Glen Gullickson, and grandparents Anton and Mathilda Brincks.

He is survived by his parents, Anthony and Marilyn (Gullickson) Brincks; 2 brothers, Shawn (DiAnna) Brincks of Altoona, and Ryan (Karissa) Brincks of Cedar Falls; grandmother Mabel (Edwin) Gullickson Molokken of West Union; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
