Delores Esther Berg

Funeral services for Delores Berg, 74, of Postville, were held Saturday, June 1, 2002, at 11 a.m. in the Frankville Community Presbyterian Church at Frankville. The Reverend James Walker officiated. The Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Frankville Cemetery.

Delores Esther Berg, the daughter of Oscar R. and Selma (Wilke) Johnson was born September 15, 1927, in Clayton County near Monona. She passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2002, in the Good Samaritan Center at Postville.

She attended the Jefferson No. 8 country school in Allamakee County. On January 22, 1947, Delores was married to Stanley Harold Berg in the Lutheran Parsonage at Monona. To this marriage 6 sons were born. They farmed in the Forest Mills area as well as in Allamakee and Winneshiek Counties. They moved to Frankville in 1962.

Delores was a hard worker, helping her husband and raising their children. Delores cherished the time spent visiting with family and friends. She liked to work in her garden raising flowers as well as vegetables, and enjoyed dancing and playing cards.

Delores was a member of the Frankville Community Presbyterian Church and the Presbyterian Women's Association and also the Frankville Fire Flies.

She is survived by her husband, Stanley, of Knoxville; 5 sons, Ronald (Holly) Berg of Wheatland; David (Terry) Berg of Atlanta, GA; Charles (Jan) Berg of Castalia; Douglas (Teresa) Berg; and Darin Berg, all of Frankville; 9 grandchildren, 6 brothers, Roger (Norma) Johnson; Dale (Beverly) Johnson; Dean (Delores) Johnson, all of Waukon; LaVern (Jeanette) Johnson of Postville; Dwayne (Linda) Johnson, all of Elgin; 2 sisters, Norma Bloxham, Dorothy (Gary) Gress, all of Waukon; a brother-in-law, Leo (Jean) Berg of Decorah; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Berg of Cassville, MO; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Terry LaVern; an infant grandson, Adam; an infant sister, Helen Jean; a sister, Marnetta Snitker; a brother, Marland "Bud" Johnson; and a brother-in-law, Orlan Berg.

Casket bearers were Terry, Darwin, Wayne, John, Jim and Brian Johnson and Denise Kregel, JoDee Anderson, Randy Bloxham and Troy Gress. Honorary casket bearers were the grandchildren.
