Mrs. Gotfred Qualley

Funeral services for Mrs. Gotfred Qualley who passed away at her home here on Saturday, March 1st, were held at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon at the Lincoln church with the pastor, Rev. M. B. Quill officiating. Interment was in the cemetery adjoining the church.

Carsten Smedbey of Luther college accompanied by Elaine Naeseth, sang two solos, at the services. Dr. Preus, president of Luther college was present at the funeral, bringing greetings from Luther college, faculty and students.

Mrs. Qualley, whose maiden name was Laura Anderson, was born at Ridgeway, Dec. 22, 1885. She was the daughter of Torbjorn and Liv Anderson, both of whom have preceded her in death. Mrs. Qualley received her education in the rural school near her home and at Valder business college, Decorah, of which she was a graduate. She was married to Gotfred Qualley at Decorah by Rev. I. B. Torrison, Nov. 17, 1917. The family home was at first on the farm home of her parents. For the past 21 years it has been at the present location west of Ridgeway.

Baptized and confirmed by the Rev. Xaxier, Mrs. Qualley was a lifelong member of the Lincoln congregation. She was an active member of the Ridgeway Ladies’ Aid society and sewing circle, striving in this way to help promote the work of the church.

The deceased is survived by her husband, 2 sisters, Tilda and Emma Anderson of Ridgeway, 3 brothers, Ingvald of Ridgeway, Otto of Ossian, Mant of Cedar Rapids, Ia. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. The following brothers and sisters have preceded her in death: Theo., Amelia, Andrew and Nellie. Much sympathy is extended to the husband, brothers, sisters and the many friends and relatives who mourn her departure.
