Margaret Phillips Busch, age 92, of Spillville, IA, died on Monday, October 25, 2010, at the Ossian Senior Hospice in Ossian, Iowa.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 28, 2010, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville, Iowa, with Rev. Marvin Salz presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, at the Balik Funeral Home in Spillville, Iowa, and after 10:00 a.m. at the church on Thursday morning.

There will be a rosary at 4:00 p.m., at the funeral home on Wednesday afternoon.

Margaret Bessie (Pechota) Phillips Busch, was born on November 23, 1917, the daughter of Frank and Anna (Landa) Pechota on the farm near Protivin, Iowa. Margaret attended rural country school. She married Ludger Phillips on October 4, 1937, and to this union, two children were born: Marvin and Shirley. Together they farmed the family farm near Conover, until her husband died suddenly on August 13, 1957. In 1961, Margaret moved five miles west of her farm, where she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and worked at Wapsie Produce. On September 17, 1976, Margaret married Cletus Busch, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar. They lived in Calmar, where Margaret enjoyed keeping her lawn beautiful. In 2002, she moved to Housing in Spillville and then to the Ossian Senior Hospice in 2004. Over the years, Margaret enjoyed baking kolaches, crocheting, quilting, gardening, dancing, taking trips with Cletus and above all, she enjoyed her family and grandchildren. Margaret was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and Guild and in later years at St. Aloysius Catholic Church and Rosary Society in Calmar, and the Catholic Daughters of America.

Margaret is survived by her two children: Marvin (Alice) Phillips, Fort Atkinson, IA and Shirley (Gordon) Klimesh, Spillville, IA. Nine grandchildren: DiAnne (David) Nienhaus, Susie (Mike) Fjetland, Julie (Pat) Buckley, Allen (Tiffany) Phillips, Richard (Christy) Klimesh, Sandra (Shawn) Praska, Steven Klimesh, Joseph Klimesh, and Connie Sue Klimesh. Thirteen great grandchildren: Alyson (Brandon) Haugen, Nicholas Nienhaus, Kristina Nienhaus, Matthew & Lucas Fjetland, Jennifer (Jeremy) Gomez, Bryan Sloan, Kyle & Seth Phillips, Starlette, Brad and Ambriehl Klimesh, and Peyton Jo Klimesh. Three great great grandchildren: Ethan Sloan, Kaden Gomez and Tyson Haugen. Two sisters: Beatrice Frana and Mabel Kubesh, both of Calmar, IA, along with many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents: Frank and Anna (Landa) Pechota. Her first husband: Ludger Phillips on August 13, 1957 and her second husband: Cletus Busch on January 9, 1988. One great granddaughter: Ashley Ann Klimesh on December 30, 1993. One brother: William “Bill” (Alice) Pechota. Three sisters: Celia (Joe) Pizinger, Philomena (William) Svestka and Viola (Eldon) Mason. Two brothers-in-law: Ed Frana and Elvin Kubesh.
