Marie Theodora Broghamer
Marie Theodora Broghamer, 85, died Friday morning, February 1, 1991 at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital in Decorah. She was born June 2, 1905, the daughter of the late Joseph J. and Elizabeth (Lansing) Broghamer in rural Decorah, Springfield Township.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, February 4, at St. Francis de Sales Church in Ossian at 11 a.m. with Rev. Richard Kuhn officiating. Burial was in the St. Frances Cemetery. Casket bearers were Daniel, Morand and Marcellus Broghamer; Keith and Clifford Carey and Loren Dundee. Schmitz Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Marie attended the Springfield Township (Ravena area) rural schools and De Sales school in Ossian. She was an honorary member of the Rosary Society. She was a resident of the Ossian Senior Hospice since September 1, 1987.
Survivors are a niece, Betty Carey of Ossian; a nephew, Jerry Hemsath of rural Decorah; 4 great nephews: Clifford and Keith Carey, Daniel Broghamer and Travis Hemsath; 4 great nieces: Dolly Panos, Robyn Dundee, Becky Roberts, Melinda Hemesath; 8 great great nephews: Josh and John Broghamer, Shane, Scott and Casey Panos, Korey and Kyle Dundee and Ronnie Roberts; 4 great great nieces: Ann Marie Broghamner, Melissa Carey and Kerra Dundee and Michelle Roberts.
Preceding her in death were her parents, 4 brothers: 2 in infancy, John Broghamer in 1976, one sister, Eulalie Hemsath in 1982; and one nephew Leo Broghamer in 1973.
Submitter notes: In death, it says Marie was preceded by 4 brothers but only 3 are listed and survivors Ann Marie Broghamner name is spelled that way in the obit, as is Melinda Hemesath. They are not my typing errors.
