Agatha Neuzil, age 88, of Fort Atkinson, IA, died on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at Wellington Place in Decorah, IA.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 27, 2011, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson, IA, with Rev. Nick March presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 3:00-7:00 p.m., on Sunday, June 26, 2011, at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, Chekal Chapel, in Fort Atkinson, IA. Friends may also call after 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home on Monday morning. There will be a rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a scripture service at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Agatha Agnes Neuzil was born on February 12, 1923, the daughter of James and Mary (Wandas) Neuzil at home in Fort Atkinson, IA. Agatha attended St. John’s Catholic School and two years at Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids, IA. Agatha moved with her sisters to Portland, OR, where she worked for the Union Pacific Railroad. In 1949, she returned to Fort Atkinson, where she worked for Schmitt Implement, as a bookkeeper for twenty years. After she retired, Agatha enjoyed reading and watching TV, and received the Governor’s Volunteer Award. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and the Catholic Workman.

Agatha is survived by her two nieces: Sharon (Dave) Chasko, Lake Oswego, OR; and Diane (Richard) Lindstrom, Camas, WA. Three nephews: Steve Schulte, Portland, OR; Lauren Schulte, Portland, OR; and Jim (Ann) Neuzil, Rapid City, SD, along with many cousins.

Agatha was preceded in death by her parents: James and Mary (Wandas) Neuzil. One brother: Charles Neuzil. Three sisters: Mary Schulte, Helen Hads & Monica Neuzil. Three aunts: Stephana Wandas, Annie (Chris) Rein, and Sister Percopia Wandas. Four uncles: Julius (Mary) Rausch, Ed (Agnes) Doubek, Charlie (Mary) Wandas, and Bill (Agnes) Shimek.
