Donald F. Lomen, age 75, of Huntley, Illinois and formerly of Decorah, died Monday, December 31, 2007 at Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry of complications from Parkinson disease.

Memorial Services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Saturday, January 5, 2008 at Washington Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Decorah by Rev. Kim W. Smith with burial in the church cemetery.

Friends may call after 1:30 P.M. Saturday at the church. Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah is handling the arrangements.

Another memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday January 4, 2008 at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave. Crystal Lake, IL.

Donald Fredrick Lomen was born April 3, 1932 in Decorah, Iowa, the son of Erlin and Ellen (Jensen) Lomen. He graduated from Decorah High School with the class of 1950 and from Iowa State University with the class of 1954. He served in the United States Air Force from 1955-1957.

He was united in marriage with Barbara Heslip on September 6, 1958 in Austin, MN. This union was blessed with two children, Douglas and Ellen.

Don and Barb lived in Omaha, NE, St. Louis, MO, Chicago, IL and Milwaukee, WI. He retired from A.O. Smith in 1995. They moved to Decorah in 1996 and then moved to Huntley, IL in August 2007.

He was a member of the Elks, Washington Prairie Lutheran Church, enjoyed playing golf and was a member of Oneota Golf and Country Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Don is survived by his wife Barbara, two children: Douglas (Faye) Lomen of Crystal Lake, IL and Ellen (Kenneth) Parks of Huntington Beach, CA; three grandchildren: Amanda, Ryan, and Jake; his step-mother Lorraine Lomen of Decorah; three brothers: Richard (Doris) Lomen of Waukon, IA, David (Connie) Lomen of Tucson, AZ, and Dale (Marilyn) Lomen of Cape Coral, FL; and two sisters: Nancy Lomen of Decorah and Dorothy (Steve) Van Helten of Waverly, IA.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the National Parkinson Foundation, 1501 N. W. 9th Avenue, Miami, FL. 33136-1494.
