Emma Teske Dies At Age 99; Rites Held Friday

Mrs. Emma Teske, one of Winneshiek County's oldest residents, died at her home December 29 at the age of 99. She was a life-long resident of Winneshiek County and Decorah.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. David Ash Friday, Dec. 31 at 1 p.m. at Steine Funeral Home with burial in the Canoe Methodist Cemetery. Pallbearers were Arthur Gaffney, Arlin Fisher, Harold Fisher, Robert Fisher, Norman Fisher and Gavin Spilde. Mr. and Mrs. Elwin A. Mack were organist and soloist.

As Emma Fisher, Mrs. Teske was born July 20, 1877 in Winneshiek County, the daughter of George and Margaret Fisher. She attended rural schools and was married July 20, 1905 to August Teske at the Methodist Parsonage. He preceded her in death August 2, 1949.

Mrs. Teske is survived by a daughter, Sadie Teske of Decorah; two sons, Floyd Teske of Burlington, Ia. and Arthur Teske of Decorah and two sisters, Mrs. Mathilda Seim and Mrs. Ella Buer, both of Decorah.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers.

Mrs. Teske was a member of the United Methodist Church.
