Last Rites Held At Canoe Ridge For Mr. Thompson
Funeral services for Theodore S. Thompson, 81, were conducted Saturday, June 2 by Pastor Olaf O. Brandt at Canoe Ridge Lutheran Church. Mr Thompson, who lived in Allamakee County, had been a carpenter all his life. He died May 31 at the Winneshiek County Hospital.
Mr. Thompson is survived by four sons, Robert Thompson of Waterloo, Curtis Thompson of Long Beach, Calif., Vernon Thompson of Cedar Rapids, Lloyd Bulman of Marion, Ia.; a daughter, Eileen (Mrs. Andy Anderson) of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, one great grandchild; two brothers, Oscar Thompson of Decorah and Gierhart Thompson of Cedar Rapids, and a sister, Mrs. Ralph (Amanda) Haga, Salem, Ore.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sever and Inga Thompson, and his wife, the former Clara B. Syling, who died April 25, 1971.
Theodore Thompson was born December 5, 1892 in Allamakee County, where he attended rural schools. He served with the U.S. Army in World War I and was a member of the American Legion. He also belonged to Canoe Ridge Lutheran Church.
Pallbearers at services for Mr. Thompson were Norris Otteson, Thomas Otteson, Oscar Halverson, Roy Halverson, Elmer Bigler and Selmer Larson. Miss Beverly Brandt was organist. Arrangements were made by Steine Funeral Home. Burial was in the church cemetery.
