Funeral Services Are Today For Casper Sundby

Casper Sundby of Decorah died May 10 at his home at the age of 71. He had lived in Decorah the past 40 years and was a baker by trade.

Funeral services are being held today (Thursday)at 2 p.m. at Canoe Ridge Lutheran Church with Pastor Olaf O. Brandt officiating. Burial will be in the Canoe Ridge Lutheran Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Ervin Rasmussen, Marlin Rasmussen, Lester Rasmussen, Ray Rasmussen, Vernon Rasmussen and Melvin Moen.

Mrs. Melbourne Faldet will be organist and accompany the congregation as they sing hymns. Arrangements are being made by Steine Funeral Home.

Mr. Sundby was born August 26, 1904 in Norway, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Sundby. The family moved to Flandreau, S.D. where Mr. Sundby attended public schools. He also attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis.

He served overseas with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was married to Henrietta Rasmussen, daughter of Mrs. Stella Rasmussen of Decorah, in Flandreau, S.D. June 16, 1946.

His wife survives and one sister, Olga Larson of Minneapolis. His parents preceded him in death.

Mr. Sundby was a member of Canoe Ridge Lutheran Church and the VFW.
