Canoe Ridge Rites Being Held Today For E. M. Gavle
Everett M. Gavle, 63, Decorah Township farmer, died suddenly at his home Friday, Feb. 24.
Funeral services for Mr. Gavle are being held at the Canoe Ridge Lutheran Church this afternoon at 2 p.m. Mr. Gavle's body is to lie in state from 1 p.m. today until time of services. The Rev. Olaf O. Brandt is conducting the funeral rites.
Burial is to be in the Canoe Ridge Cemetery. Pallbearers are to be Donald Priebe, Burton Gavle, Gary Gavle, Ernest Gavle, Thomas Otteson, and Gordon Tangen. The Steine Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
Music for the services is to be by Mrs. Melbourne Faldet, organist, and David Kruse, soloist.
Everett M. Gavle was born Sept. 4, 1903, in Allamakee County. His parents were Ole and Martha Gavle, both of whom preceded him in death.
Mr. Gavle attended the rural schools of his community. On May 19, 1940, he was married to Gladys Larson in the Glenwood parsonage. No children were born to their marriage. Mrs. Gavle survives her husband's death.
Decorah Township was Mr. Gavle's home the past 18 years. He had lived in Winneshiek County a longer period and has also lived in Allamakee County.
Mr. Gavle had been a salesman for Iowa Life Insurance Company, an employee of Farmers Hybrid Seed Corn Company.
He was a member of Canoe Ridge Lutheran Church and had been a director of parish sonservation for his church. He was a director of the Decorah Retirement Center.
Besides his parents, Mr. Gavle was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.
He leaves, besides his widow, two brothers, Raymond Gavle, and Orlan Gavle, both of Highland Township.
