Services To Be On Wednesday for Martin Larson
Services for Martin Larson, 92, Pleasant Township, who died Sunday morning, are being held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Canoe Ridge Lutheran Church. The body is to lie in state at the church from 1-2 p.m. Rev. Donald Lee will officiate with Steine Funeral Home in charge. Burial will be made at Canoe Ridge Cemetery.
On the foral committee are Carolyn Sheetz, Barbara Priebe, Jacquelyn Priebe and Myrna Otteson.
Pallbearers will bey Byron Kruse, Norris Otteson, Charles Ramsey, Ray Priebe, Arthur Priebe and Ray Thompson.
Martin Larson was born on Jan. 23, 1871 in Allamakee County to the late Lars and Ellen Larson.
He received his education in the rural schools of Pleasant Township.
On Nov. 9, 1899 he was married to Anna Sorenson.
To this union 13 children were born, 10 of which are still living. They are Selmer, Decorah, Arthur, Postville, Leon, Rochester, Minn., Merton, Mason City, Iowa, Mrs. Everett (Gladys) Gavle, Decorah, Mrs. Byron (Esther) Kruse, Monana, Iowa, Mrs. Norris (Ella) Otteson, Decorah, Mrs. Charles (Violet) Ramsey, Mason City, Mrs. Ray (Madeline) Priebe, Fenton, Iowa and Mrs. Ray (Arlene) Thompson, Decorah.
He is also survived by his wife, Anna, one brother, Edward, Everett, Wash., four sisters; Mrs. Emma Foltz, Decorah, Mrs. Alberta Young, Decorah, Mrs. Mathilda Howard, Milwaukee, Wis., and Mrs. Ida Koziol, Bristol, Tenn. Twenty-eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three children, Floyd, Myrtle and another child died in infancy, five sisters and one brother.
He spent most all of life in Pleasant Township and was affiliated with Canoe Ridge Lutheran Church.
