Mrs. Martin Larson Funeral Services Held Saturday

Mrs. Martin Larson died June 4 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gladys Gavle, at 208 E. Pearl Street. She was 96. A native of Norway, she came to America with her parents in 1896. The family settled in Pleasant Township where she made her home until she moved to Decorah.

Pastor Olaf O. Brandt conducted funeral services for Mrs. Larson Saturday, June 7 at Canoe Ridge Lutheran Church with burial in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were David Kruse, Gary Larson, Larry Thompson, Joel Priebe, Mark Larson and Thomas Otteson. Mrs. Melbourne Faldet was organist and accompanied the congregation as they sang hymns. Arrangements were made by Steine Funeral Home.

Mrs. Larson is survived by 10 children: Selmer Larson, Mrs. Gladys Gavle, Mrs. Norris (Ella) Otteson, Mrs. Raymond (Arlene) Thompson, all of Decorah; Mrs. Byron (Esther) Kruse, Monona, Arthur Larson, Postville, Mrs. Violet Ramsey and Merton Larson of Mason City, Mrs. Raymond (Madeline) Priebe of Fenton, and Leon Larson of Rochester, Minn.; 28 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Soren and Ellen Sorenson, a son, one daughter, her husband, three brothers and two sisters.

The former Anna Bertina Sorenson, Mrs. Larson was born June 30, 1978 in Sunn Fjord, Norway where she received her education. She was married in 1899 to Martin Larson. Her husband died in 1963.

Mrs. Larson was a member of Canoe Ridge Lutheran Church.
