Harold (Bud) A. Jacobson, age 72, of Decorah, passed away Friday, April 4, 2008, following an accident.

According to his wishes, he was cremated. A celebration of Bud's life will be held on Monday, April 7, at the Hesper Lutheran Church from 4 to 8 p.m. in Hesper. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 8, at 1:30 p.m. at the Hesper Lutheran Church in Hesper.

Harold (Bud) Allen Jacobson was born Dec. 12, 1935 in Bloomfield, Minnesota, the son of Arnold and Hilda (Hanson) Jacobson. He married Edna Sorenson on April 8, 1961 in rural Decorah at the Canoe Ridge Lutheran Church. Bud served in the U.S. Army then was primarily a self-employed farmer, but he also worked for 15 years with Kenseth Plumbing and Heating, 17 years with Donaldson's Inc., and in the past few years he stepped in as a substitute school bus driver and was employed by Kale Monroe, but he didn't call it work. He was a member of the Winneshiek Saddle Club and the Hesper Lutheran Church. He enjoyed riding and training horses, TV, reading, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Edna Jacobson of Decorah; four daughters, Cheryl (James) Nagel and children David and Deneen of Preston, Minn., Rhonda (Dean) Hovden of Decorah, Kathryn (Joe) Elsbernd and children Dylan and Bryce of Decorah, and Jody (David) Bohr and children Logan, Morgan, and Alexis of Calmar; two sons, Terry Jacobson and son Landen of Decorah, and Harold Jacobson Jr. of Decorah.

Survivors also include four sisters, Betty (Lloyd-deceased) Monroe of Castalia, Lois (Lyle) Johansen of West Union, Marge (James) Monroe of West Union, and Judy (John) Hyman of Postville; and two brothers, Gordon (Judy) Jacobson of Clermont, and Lavern (Buster) Jacobson of West Union.

He was preceded in death by his parents Arnold and Hilda Jacobson; two brothers, Robert and Eugene (John); two brothers-in-law Lloyd Monroe and Arnold Sorenson; two sisters-in-law Mary Jacobson and Darlene Jacobson.

Memorials may be directed to the Hesper Lutheran Church in Harold/Bud's name.
