Bendick Sorenson Rites Held May 21

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 21, at 1:00 at the Winneshiek funeral home, and at 2:00 at the Canoe Ridge Church for Benedick Sorenson, 70, who died Saturday evening, May 18, while being taken to the Decorah hospital. The Rev. Alfred Bredesen officiated. Burial was in the Canoe Ridge cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Selmer Larson, Arthur Larson, Glenn Sorenson, Edwin Sorenson, Chester Erickson, and Arthur Erickson.

Bendick Sorenson was born May May 10, 1876 in Norway, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Soren Sorenson. In 1894, he came to America, settling in Pleasant township. On September 19, 1906, he married Susan Jane Dinger, who preceded him in death in 1938.

Mr. Sorenson is survived by the following children: Ethel, Mrs. Edwin Vick, Burr Oak; Oscar, Galveston, Tex.; Walter, Rosamund, Calif.; Raymond, Cedar Rapids; Clara, Mrs. Leo Tonne, Mallard; Melvin, Sylvester, Ervin and Vernon all of Decorah. One child died in infancy. Besides his children he is survived by two brothers, Andrew and Lars, and one sister, Mrs. Martin Larson, all of Decorah.

Bendick Sorenson Dies On Way To Decorah Hospital

Bendick Sorenson, Pleasant township farmer, died Saturday evening, May 18, while being taken by ambulance to the Decorah hospital. Cause of death was a cerebral hemorrhage.

Services were conducted yesterday, Tuesday at 1:00 o'clock from the Winneshiek Funeral home and at 2 o'clock from Canoe Ridge Lutheran church. The Rev. Alfred Bredesen officiated at both services. Burial took place in the Canoe Ridge cemetery.

Bendick Sorenson was born May 10, 1876 in Norway, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Soren Sorenson. He came to America in 1894 and settled in Pleasant township. Mr. Sorenson was married September 19, 1906 to Susan Jane Dinger, who preceded him in death September 10, 1938.

Survivors include: Mrs. Edwin, Ethel, Vick, Burr Oak; Johnnie, Des Moines; Melvin, Decorah; Oscar, Houston, Tex.; Sylvester, Decorah; Walter, Rosemond, Cal.; Ervin, Decorah; Raymond, Cedar Rapids; Vernon, Decorah; Mrs. Leo, Clara, Tonne, Mallard, Ia.; and two brothers and one sister: Andrew Sorenson, Decorah; Mrs. Martin Larson, Decorah; and Lars Sorenson.

Beside his wife, he was preceded in death by Mrs. Oscar Erickson and Tena Sorenson.

Mr. Sorenson served as director and vice-president of the Farmers Telephone company for 25 years.
