Myrtle E. Kramme, age 91, of Calmar, Iowa, died on Saturday, May 12, 2007, at the Winneshiek Medical Center, Decorah, Iowa, following a lingering illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at the Calmar Community United Methodist Church in Calmar, Iowa, with Rev. Mike Blevins officiating. Burial will be the Calmar City Cemetery, Calmar, Iowa.
Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, French Chapel in Calmar, Iowa and after 10:00 a.m. at the church on Wednesday morning.
Myrtle Eretha Kramme was born on March 23, 1916, the daughter of Henry and Lydia (Walton) Lumby in Sanborn, Iowa. She attended school in Sanborn, Iowa. Myrtle married Paul Daniel Kramme in May 13, 1938. Together they farmed for a short time and raised their family in northwestern Iowa, while Paul worked for the Milwaukee Railroad. They moved to Calmar in 1957. Myrtle worked at the Home Café in Calmar from 1963 to the late 80’s. She enjoyed gardening and baking bread. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially enjoyed going fishing. She was a member of the Halverson – Giesen American Legion Auxiliary.
Myrtle’s survivors include her two daughters: Karen (Jim) Aschenbrenner, Cedar Falls, IA and Becky (Dean) Monroe, Castalia, IA. Five sons: Tim (Linda) Kramme, Stout, IA, Kenneth Kramme, Calmar, IA, Steve (Ana) Kramme, Adel, IA, Mark Kramme, Calmar, IA and Roger (Amy) Kramme, Spillville, IA. Eighteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Two brothers: Leonard Lumby, Mesa, AZ and Vince (Loranda) Lumby, Reeheights, SD.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Paul Kramme in 1976. One son: David in 1966; One granddaughter: Jennifer Kramme. Two grandsons: Troy Halterman and Michael Kramme. One brother: Albert Lumby. Four sisters: Irene Groen, Ilene Jones, Wilma Palmer and Shirley Groen.
