Allen Robert Quandahl, 61, of rural Decorah died Thursday, Sept. 21, at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital following a long illness.

He had farmed all his life in the area and was a veteran of the Korean conflict.

Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 25, at 1 p.m. at Hauge Lutheran Church with the Rev. Arland Braaten-Lee officiating. Burial was in the Springwater Cemetery. Pallbearers were Stanley McCabe, Steve Falck, Wayne Engelhardt, Dick Drackley, Danny Fadness and David Fadness. Alan Sensor was organist and accompanied congregational singing. Funeral arrangements were made by French & Balik Funeral Home.

Allen Quandahl was born June 4, 1928, in Decorah to Ludvig and Addie (Brandt) Quandahl. He attended rural schools and had served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1948 to 1953.

He married Ethel Halse Aug. 28, 1955, in ceremonies at Lancaster, Mo.

Mr. Quandahl is survived by his wife, two sons, Raymond Quandahl and Tim Quandahl, both of Decorah; a daughter, Becky Brower of Oskaloosa; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Clyde Quandahl of Decorah and Howard Quandahl of Stoughten, Wis; and two sisters, Lillie Foltz and Ida Noecker, both of Decorah.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lena Davis.
