Francis “Frank” W. Kautman, age 74, of Fort Atkinson, IA, died on Thursday, October 19, 2006, at his daughter’s home in Little Turkey, Iowa, following a terminal illness.

Graveside services will be held at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, October 21, 2006, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in Spillville, Iowa, with Rev. Donald Hawes, officiating. There will be military rites at the graveside by the Huber – Steffes American Legion Post #672 and the Turkey River VFW Post #3902.

Friends may call from 3:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, Chekal Chapel, in Fort Atkinson, Iowa. There will be a rosary at 4:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Francis W. “Frank” Kautman was born on August 20, 1932 in Decorah, Iowa, the son of Frank and Barbara (Koshatka) Kautman. Frank attended school in Decorah and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Frank married Edna Wagner in 1959 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. He was a mechanic for many years at Rausch Chevrolet in Fort Atkinson and Hilsabeck Chevrolet in Calmar. Frank enjoyed visiting and fishing with his family and friends, watching wildlife and playing with his dogs.

Francis is survived by his two daughters: Bonnie (Michael) Keune, Little Turkey, IA and Tina (Gary) List, Lawler, IA. One brother: Adrian Kautman, Desert Hot Springs, CA. Four grandchildren: Brittany Edna (Adam Klimesh), Christopher Edwin, Jana Marie and Michael Francis. One great grandson: Phoenix Tomas Klimesh.

Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Edna on December 17, 1977; his mother: Barbara A. Kautman on December 17, 1992; his father: Frank Charles Kautman on March 20, 1999; his step-mother: Esther Kautman on October 9, 2003.
