Wilbur F. "Webb" Buddenberg
Funeral services were conducted Friday, February 10 at the Zion Lutheran Church, Castalia, at 11 a.m. for Wilbur F. "Webb" Buddenberg, who died Tuesday February 7 at the Community Memorial Hospital, Postville, where he had been a patient for over two months. The Rev. Perry Brown officiated. Interment was in the Pleasant View Cemetery.
Born near Castalia October 12, 1903, Wilbur F. was the son of Henry William and Bertha (Roth) Buddenberg. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He attended the rural school and high school at Castalia.
August 19, 1928 Webb was married to Louella Amanda Thorson in the Little Brown Church at Nashua.
He was a man of many talents -- he traveled throughout the area building silos; operated a restaurant in Castalia and he and his wife managed the Clermont telephone company until they purchased the family far 2¼ miles north of Castalia, which he operated until his retirement.
He was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church for many years serving on the church council and in various capacities. He also at one time was a boy scout leader and was president of the local telephone company for several years.
Survivors include a son, Davis of Castalia; daughters, Mrs. Karl (Janet) Asmus of Tripoli and Mrs. Marvin (Bonita) Bryce of Coralville. There are 10 grandchildren, a brother, Melvin of Castalia and a sister, Mrs. Dale (Rubye) Reeves of Pomona, California.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Louella in 1959, his parents, two brothers and one sister.
