OLE O. VALLE DIED IN PLEASANT TOWNSHIP HOME

Ole O. Valle passed away Thursday, Aug 6, 1931, at 7:30 p.m. at his home in Pleasant twp. Death was due to heart trouble. He had suffered of heart trouble and rheumatism several years. During about two months preceding his death, he was confined to his home.

The funeral was conducted Sunday by Rev. O. Glesne with services in the Springwater church and burial in the adjoining cemetery. Among those from a distance who attended the funeral were the deceased's daughter, Mrs. Oscar Dokken of Brandt, S.D., Mr. and Mrs. Loberg, Mr. and Mrs. Hans Halverson of Silver Lake, Iowa, Iver Dahl of Albert Lea, and Oscar Dahl of Northwood.

Ole O. Valle was a son of Ole Halvorson Valle and Marit Lanrud. He was born in Clayton county on July 13, 1864. When he was a boy the family moved to a farm near Highlandville. From there they moved to Pleasant twp., where Mr. Valle spent the rest of his life except some 18 years in South Dakota. He homesteaded in Haakon and Ziebach counties and during 12 years conducted a hotel at Brandt, S.D. In Winneshiek county his energies were devoted to farming.

On Jan. 8, 1890, Mr. Valle united in marriage with Betsy Dahl. The ceremony took place in the church that was the scene of the last rites on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs Valle became the parents of three children. The oldest, John Orlando, died when about six months old. The survivors are Hannah (Mrs. Oscar Dokken) of Brandt, S.D.and Melvin Orlando Valle on the home place in Pleasant twp. In the Valle family there were three brothers and eight sisters. Ony two survive, Mrs. Hans Erickson of Decorah and Halvor Valle of Brandt, S.D. The deceased's wife survives him.

Mr. Valle was highly esteemed by all who knew him. He was a good husband and father and a loyal friend. He is highly spoken of in the community that mourns the loss of a good neighbor. He was a member of the Lutheran church.

Well Known Farmer Passed Away Thursday

O. O. Valle, well known farmer of Pleasant township, passed away at his home Thursday, Aug. 6. He had been in poor health for several years, and for the last weeks had been confined to his bed part of the time.

The deceased was a son of Ole and Martha Langrud Halvorson and was born in Clayton county, Iowa, July 13, 1864. His parents moved to Winneshiek county when he was about ten years old, settling on a farm in Pleasant Twp., where he grew to manhood.

He was married about 43 years ago to Miss Betsy Dahl,who with two children survive. The are (Hannah) Mrs. Oscar Doken of Brandt, S.D., and Melvin Valle, who lives on the home farm in Pleasant. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Hans Erickson of Decorah and one brother, Halvor Valle, of Brandt, S.D.

About the year 1904 the family moved to Brandt, S.D. where Mr. Valle operated a hotel and also conducted a farm. They returned to Winneshiek county in 1931.

Mr. Valle was a man who enjoyed the respect and esteem of many friends, and his death leaves a void that can never be filled. To the bereaved ones left to mourn the sympathy of all is extended.

The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Springwater church. Rev. O. Glesne of the Lutheran church of Decorah officiated, assisted by Rev. Losen of Locust. Interment took place in the cemetery nearby.
