Andrew Sorenson, Pioneer Resident, Dies at Age 99

A pioneer resident of Winneshiek County, Andrew Sorenson died Monday, Feb. 19 at the Decorah Retirement Center where he was a resident. He was 99 years old.

Funeral services for Mr. Sorenson, who was a retired carpenter, are being held today (Thursday) at 2 p.m. at Steine Funeral Home with burial in Springwater Cemetery. The Rev. Olaf Brandt will officiate. Pallbearers will be Leonard Sorenson, Willard Sorenson, Chester Erickson, Art Erickson, Selmer Larson and Raymond Sorenson. Dennis Young is organist, and the Rev. Brandt will be soloist.

Andrew Sorenson was born October 28, 1873 in Norway, the son of Soren and Ellen Sorenson. He received his education in Norway before coming to America and Winneshiek County.

Mr. Sorenson is survived by a sister, Mrs. Martin Larson of Decorah and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
