Last Rites Held For Harris Sande, Former Resident
Harris Sande, 58, of Iowa City, and former county resident, died December 13 at his home following a heart attack. Mr. Sande, who was employed as a crane operator for Frantz Construction Co. of Iowa City, was born in Springwater.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 18 at George Gay Chapel at Iowa City. The Rev. Herdman of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church officiated at the final rites. Committal services were conducted by the Rev. Allen Nelson at Springwater Cemetery.
Mr. Sande is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Vernon (Diana) Thompson of Ostrander, Minn., Mrs. Richard (Judith) Thompson of Wykoff, Minn., three grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. T.F. Berg of Pleasant Township, and four brothers, Marvin Sande and Sam Sande of Decorah, Alder Sande of LeRoy, Minn. and Ben Sande of Canoe Township.
Harris Sande was born April 17, 1913 at Springwater to Engebret and Sarah Thompson Sande. He was educated in rural school at Springwater and served in World War II. In 1953 he was married to the former Miss Eunice Kirby of Grinnell who preceded him in death.
He is also preceded in death by his father and one brother, Levi Sande.
