MRS. JOHN P RONEY

Mrs. John P. Roney passed away Monday, Feb. 23, 1920, at her home in Canoe twp. Death was due to pneumonia. She had been sick about 10 days. The funeral likely will be held Friday afternoon and burial will be made in the Lutheran cemetery in Canoe twp. The services will be conducted by Rev. Elton Wells, pastor of the Methodist church of Decorah, which Mrs. Roney attended.

Ovedia Jeanette Dahl was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O.H. Dahl and was born in Decorah Feb. 6, 1884. She was educated in the Decorah public school. On April 3, 1907, she was married to John P. Roney, the ceremoney taking place in Decorah. To this union were born three children, all of who, with the husband, survived. They are, James age 11, Esther age nine, and Ralph age seven. Her mother,Mrs. Mary A. Dahl of Decorah, and the following brothers and sisters also survive, H.E. Dahl of Brooklyn, N.Y., Mrs. Alf Pribel of Los Angeles, Mrs J.W. Peass of Yakoma Valley, Wash., J.W. Dahl of Decorah, and Mrs. Peter Blackburn, Mrs. James Hogarth, and J.E. Dahl, all of Deadwood, S.D.

Mrs. Roney was a quiet, unassuming woman, who made the home the center of her interst and of her activities. Her untimely death is a terrible blow ot her husband and children, in whose affliction the sympathy of many friends is extended.

Decorah Public Opinion, February 25, 1920

Mrs. John Roney passed away at her home in Canoe Twp. Monday night at 9:00, after a ten days illness from influenza and pneumonia. The deceased's maiden name was Nettie Dahl, and was born here in Decorah 36 years ago. She is survived by the bereaved husband, and three children, James, Esther and Ralph, besides her mother and two brothers, John of Decorah and Edward of South Dakota. She was a woman beloved by all who knew her and much sympathy is extended to the bereaved husband and children in their loss. The funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon from the home and burial will take place at Springwater.
