Walter Quandahl Funeral Services Are Held Today

Walter Quandahl, 64, of 503 Mill Street in Decorah died July 7 at the Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse. Mr. Quandahl had been employed with Coffeen Construction Co. in bridge and culvert construction for more that 15 years.

Funeral services were held this morning (Tuesday, July 10) at 10:30 a.m. at First Lutheran Church with burial in Springwater Lutheran Cemetery. Pastor D.D. Thogerson conducted final rites, and arrangements were made by Steine Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Charles Quandahl, Robert Young, Harold Quandahl, John Sharp, Fred Thompson and Merlin Sharp. Honorary pallbearers were Lawrence Bergan, Kenneth Fry, Eddie Wicks, Gilbert Gabrielson, Julian Grinna, Jack Pytelly, Arnold Thorson, Thomas Halse, David Knopf and Donald Zahasky. William Kuhlman was organist.

Mr. Quandahl is survived by his wife, the former Evelyn Young; two daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Helen) McCormick, Decorah and Mrs. Donald (Wilma) Steffans of Clermont, Ia.; 10 grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Lloyd Sharp and Mrs. Albert Richard, both of Decorah.

His parents, one brother and one grandson preceded him in death.

Walter Quandahl was born April 28, 1909 in Canoe Township, the son of John and Sarah Quandahl. He attended rural schools and was married June 16, 1935 in Hesper Township. He was a member of First Lutheran Church.
