Joseph Odson, 83, Died Sunday At Great Falls, Mont.

Joseph Odson died at the home of his niece, Mr. and Mrs. A.P. Anderson near Great Falls, Mont., Aug 22, where he had gone to spend the summer.

Joseph Odson was born in Springwater, near Decorah on July 4, 1860. His parents were Martha and John Odson, who were pioneers in Winneshiek county. There were eight children in the family, the only survivor being Rachel Odson of Decorah.

Mr. Odson spent eight years in Alaska and later was in business in Montana. After retiring he lived in various places, Spokane, Wash., San Diego, Calif. and last in Decorah.

He will be brought to Decorah for burial, services being held by Rev. Oliver G. Fjeldstad, pastor of Decorah Lutheran church, at the Fjelstul funeral home at one o'clock Thursday, Aug. 26. Burial will be at the Springwater cemetery.

Funeral for Joseph Odson Held Today

Funeral services are being held today, Thursday, for Joseph Odson, 83, at the Fjelstul Funeral home. The Rev. Oliver G. Fjeldstad of the Decorah Lutheran church will officiate and burial will be in the Springwater cemetery.

Mr. Odson died at the home of his niece, Mr. and Mrs. A.P. Anderson, near Great Falls, Mont. He had gone to spend the summer with them.

Joseph Odson was a son of Martha and John Odson, born in Springwater, July 4, 1860. Of eight children in the family, only Rachel Odson of Decorah survives.

Mr. Odson spent eight years in Alaska and then lived in Montana. Before coming to Decorah, he lived in California and Washington.
