Death Hans Erickson Ness

Yesterday afternoon at one o'clock at his home in this city occurred the death of Hans Erickson Ness. The deceased had been in poor health for two years. He was born in this county in Decorah Twp., Aug. 18, 1856, and had always lived here. On Feb. 9, 1877, he was united in marriage to Julia Halvorson. Thirteen children were born to the union, seven of whom with the bereaved wife and mother survive. They are Mrs. N.C. Narveson, Pleasant Twp.; Oscar Erickson, Canoe Twp.; Mrs. Theo. Narveson; Harry and Stanton Erickson, Pleasant Twp.; Mrs. Ben C. Alstad, Decorah; Norman Erickson at home. He is survived by 17 grandchildren. The deceased had been a resident of Decorah for the past two years, and was one of the good and highly respected citizens of the community. The funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 from the home and at 11 o'clock from the United Lutheran church, Rev. Glesne and Rev. Schmidt will officiate and interment will be in the Springwater cemetery.
