Adrian Hageman, age 84, of Ossian, Iowa, died on Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at the Ossian Senior Hospice in Ossian, Iowa.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 27, 2010, at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Festina, Iowa, with Monsignor Cletus Hawes. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 3:00-7:00 p.m., on Friday, February 26, 2010, and on Saturday morning until 10:30 a.m., at the Parish Center in Festina, Iowa. There will be a rosary at 4:00 and a scripture service at 6:00 p.m. on Friday evening. The Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Calmar is in charge of arrangements.

Adrian John Hageman was born on April 5, 1925, the son of Philip and Theresia (Meyer) Hageman on the family farm near Ossian, Iowa. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Festina and helped on the family farm. He married Lillian Huinker on November 8, 1948, at St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church in Ossian, Iowa. Together they farmed for forty years, until they retired and moved into Ossian in 1988. Adrian enjoyed playing cards and visiting, bowling, gambling and his John Deere tractors. Adrian was a member of Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Festina.

Adrian is survived by his six children: Sandy (Dave) Matt, Cedar Rapids, IA; Peggy (Jerry) Becker, Sumner, IA; Harold (Kristi) Hageman, Ossian, IA; Jeanne McGrath, Cresco, IA; Bill (Jennie) Hageman, Ossian, IA; and Gerri (Tim) Allison, Mason City, IA, Sixteen grandchildren: Christa (Doug) Gach, Stephanie (Travis) Hodapp, Brad Matt, Sarah (Seth) Fleming, Matt Becker, Cole Becker, Trevor (Tori) Hageman, Tara Hageman, Trisha Hageman, Tabatha Hageman, Heather (Glen) Peters, Casey (Jessica) Knight, Jackie (Regan) Becker, Mitchell Hageman, Dylan Allison and Whitney Allison. Thirteen great grandchildren: Hayley, Rachel & Daniel Peters, Summer, Colton & Cale Knight, Sydney & Evan Hodapp, Morgan & Colin Gach, Bradyn & Alayna Hageman and Claire Becker. One sister: Sylvia Ehler, Calmar, IA. Five sisters-in-law: Catherine Moellers, Cresco, IA; Grace (Eugene) Reicks, Lawler, IA; Eunice Bushman, Monona, IA; JoAnn (Francis) Wenthold, Ossian, IA; and Edna Huinker, Decorah, IA. Four brothers-in-law: William (Phyllis) Huinker, Postville, IA, and Tom (Joyce) Huinker, Fort Atkinson, IA; Neal Reicks, Lawler, IA and Alex Reicks, Lawler, IA, as well as many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Adrian was preceded in death by his parents: Philip and Theresia (Meyer) Hageman. His wife: Lillian Hageman on January 25, 2004. Two brothers: Cyril Hageman on March 12, 1990, and one brother in infancy. His father and mother-in-law: William and Ida (Einck) Huinker. Six sisters-in-law: Rose Hageman, Alice Reicks, Vernice Reicks, Luella Reicks, Florence and Ida Huinker in infancy. Six brothers-in-law: Edmund Ehler, Ralph Huinker, Charlie Huinker, Ireaneus Moellers, Donald Huinker in infancy and Darrel Bushman.
