Mrs. Erickson of Canoe Township Buried Monday
Mother of Eight Children passed away Friday at Hospital
Mrs. Oscar J. Erickson of Canoe township died at the Decorah hospital Friday morning after an illness of nine months duration. She was admitted to the Decorah hospital about five weeks ago. She was 50 year old.
Funeral services were held Monday from the Ness funeral home in Decorah and from the Springwater church with the Rev. O. Glesne officiating. Burial was in the Springwater cemetery.
Miss Marie Sorenson was born in Norway Feb. 27 1886 and came to this country at an early age. She was married to Oscar J. Erickson in Decorah Oct. 14, 1908 by the Rev. Otto Schmidt and to this union eight children were born, all of whom survive. They are Chester Erickson of Freeport, Edith Erickson of Decorah, Harold Erickson, Wallace Erickson, Leona Erickson, Vivian Erickson, Arthur Erickson and Merlan Erickson, all living at home.
Her husband also survives, as do three brothers, Lars Sorenson, Andrew Sorenson and Benedict Sorenson, all of Pleasant township, and one sister, Mrs. Martin Larson of Pleasant township.
Mrs. Erickson was a member of Decorah Lutheran church and will be sadly missed by everyone. The children, husband, brothers and sister have the sympathy of the entire community.

Mrs. Oscar Erickson Died Friday at the Decorah Hospital
Mrs. Oscar J. Erickson of Canoe Township Twp. died Friday, March 6, at the Decorah hospital after a long illness from a stomach ailment, having been in failing health since last July.
Marie Louise Sorenson was born in Sondfjord, Norway, Feb. 27, 1886, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Soren Lokkebo. She came to America with her parents in 1895 when she was nine years old. They came directly to Winneshiek county where she had made her home until her death.
She was united in marriage to Oscar Erickson on October 14, 1908, the ceremony being performed by Rev. Otto E Schmidt. Eight children were born to the union, the youngest being ten years old and the eldest about 24. They are Chester, Harold, Edith, Wallace, Leona, Vivian, Arthur and Merlin, all of whom with the bereaved husband and father survive. She is also survived by three brothers and one sister, Lars, Benedick, Andrew and Mrs. Martin Larson, all of Pleasant Twp. One sister, Tina, died some years ago.
Mrs. Erickson was a highly esteemed and beloved woman who was possessed of a large number of dear friends, all of whom extend sincere sympathy to the bereaved ones in their loss.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Ness & Ness funeral home in this city, Rev. O. Glesne officiated and interment was in the Springwater Cemetery.
