Gladys Erickson, 87, died Thursday evening, April 1, 2004 at Oneota Riverview Care Facility in Decorah.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, April 7 at 2 p.m. at Hauge Lutheran Church with Rev. John Mayer officiating.

Organist is Connie Bolson, and soloist Nicolette Kakos will per-form "On Eagle’s Wings" and "Wind Beneath My Wings."

Congregational hymn is "Just a Closer Walk with Thee."

Inurnment will be in Spring-water Cemetery, and Fjelstul Funeral Home, Decorah, is handling arrangements.

Gladys Geraldine Erickson was born April 24, 1916 in Freeport, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Cornelia (Arneson) Gross.

She graduated from Decorah High School with the class of 1934.

She was united in marriage with Maurice L. Erickson on March 22, 1940 in Rock Rapids, Iowa. To this union a daughter was born: Kathryn.

Prior to her marriage, she was a teacher in country schools in the Burr Oak, Canoe Ridge and Springwater areas. She later man-aged the Oneota Coffee Shop in the Luther College Student Union for 23 years.

She loved to spend time outdoors and was especially fond of gardening. She always had a large garden and she liked harvesting and canning her bounty.

Gladys Erickson had been a resident of Oneota Riverview Care Facility since Nov. 6, 1997.

She is survived by her daugh-ter, Kathryn I. Erickson of Decorah; a granddaughter, also of Decorah; three sisters-in-law, Alice Tollefson, Evelyn Hahn and Violet Winger, all of Decorah; several nieces and nephews, in-cluding a special nephew, Dalton Gross and his wife Mary Jean of Austin, Texas; and a dear family friend, Birgitta Meade of Decorah.

Gladys Erickson was preceded in death by her parents; her hus-band, Maurice on June 19, 1991; and a brother, Everett Gross.

Memorials may be directed to Oneota Riverview Care Facility in Decorah.
