Maurice L. Erickson, 76, a retired Decorah farmer, died June 19 1991, at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital following a short illness.

Funeral services were Saturday, June 22, at 2 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Arlan Braaten-Lee officiating. Burial was at the Springwater Cemetery, with French & Balik Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Organist was Alan Sensor, accompanying H.O. Christen as soloist. Pallbearers were Tom Erickson, Lester Erickson Jr., Roger Erickson, Ray Quandahl, Tim Quandahl and Marland Bjerke. Honorary pallbearers were Gerald Young, Clyde Quandahl, Howard Sande, Roger Matter, Dean Ferrie, Burton Gavle and Melvin Macal.

He was born Dec. 26, 1914 in Decorah (Canoe Township), the son of Olias and Clara M. Iverson Erickson. He was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church. He attended rural schools in the Springwater area, and married Gladys Gross March 22, 1940 at Rock Rapids, Iowa.

He lived all his life in the Springwater area of Canoe Township, and was a member of the First Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys; a daughter, Kathryn Erickson of Decorah; one granddaughter, Julie; two brothers, Lester of Decorah and Robert of Marion; and four sisters, Olive Frye, Violet Winger, Evelyn Hahn and Alice Tollefson, all of Decorah.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Earl.
