Mary E. Erickson, 84, died Tuesday, April 18, 1995, at the Green Lea Manor in Mabel, Minn., where she had been a resident for two months.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 21, at 11 a.m. at Decorah Lutheran Church, with the Revs. Paul Overvold, John V. Halvorson and Hans Floan officiating. Organist was Diane Kvamme. Burial was at Springwater Cemetery. The French-Balik Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Mary E. Barth Erickson was born May 6, 1910, in Burr Oak, the daughter of William and Hattie (Vanpelt) Barth. She was baptized at St. John's Church in Locust, and confirmed there June 15, 1924. Mary sang in the church choirs. She had eight brothers and three sisters.
She was married to Harold S. Erickson at the Barth farm in Pleasant Township of Winneshiek County in 1939 by the Rev. Carl Losen. They had two sons, Harlan and Ervin, and one daughter, Marilyn. Mary was a member of Decorah Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her husband, Harold; two sons, Harlan and Lorraine Erickson, and Ervin and Angela Erickson, all of Decorah; one daughter, Marilyn and Jerry Canady of Cedar Rapids; four grandsons; six granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alice Andreae of Volga, and Margaret Braden of Toledo; two brothers, William Barth of Wyoming, Minn., and George Barth of Waterloo; several nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law; and one brother-in-law.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, James, Clifford, Chester, Ralph, Glen and Edgar Barth; and one sister, Emma Skipe.
