Margaret Elpert, age 91, of Decorah, Iowa, died on Sunday, December 30, 2007, at the Barthell Eastern Star Home in Decorah, Iowa.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 2, 2008, at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church with Rev. Phillip Gibbs officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 1, 2008, and until 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Decorah. There will a Catholic Daughters of America Rosary at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Benedict's Catholic School or to the Barthell Eastern Star Home.

Margaret’s survivors include her two daughters: Mary Ellen (Willard) Holthaus, Decorah, IA and Judie (Darrell) Westby, Victoria, MN. One daughter-in-law: Dorothy Elpert, California. Nine grandchildren: Michael (Sandy) Holthaus, Mark Holthaus, Keith (Gina) Holthaus, Stephen Holthaus, Beth (David) Meyer, Melissa (Tim) Seeley, Chad Westby, Angela (Miguela) Fiol and Tricia Elpert. Nine great grandchildren: Zoe, Jack & Ben Holthaus, Blake Holthaus, Emily & Jared Holthaus, Madison & Gracia Seeley and Logan Fiol. Two sisters: Laura Numedahl, Ossian, IA and Joan (Don) Howland, Rochester, MN. Two brothers-in-law: Jerry Bucheit, Calmar, IA and Paul (Bertha) Elpert, Sioux Falls, SD.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents: William and Susan Huber. Her husband: Louis in 1995. One son: William Elpert in 1970. Four brothers: Paul, Linus, Joe and Bud Huber. Two sisters: Mary Bucheit and Helen Bushman.
