Angeline was born October 27, 1914 in rural Ossian, Iowa to John and Anna (Lodtvedt) Moen. She graduated from the Decorah High School in 1932. She worked for a short time at Collins Radio in Decorah and doing housekeeping in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. On March 23, 1939 she married Roger Bacon at the Washington Prairie Parsonage in rural Ossian. The couple started farming in the Mabel area then in 1945 purchased a farm in Preble Township where they remained until they started spending the winters in Mabel. Angeline was a former member of the Eastern Star and enjoyed her family, her Christian faith, and baking.
Angeline passed away Saturday, January 17, 2009 at home at the age of 94.
Angeline is survived by her husband Roger of Mabel; three daughters Barb (Robert) Solum of Spring Grove, Sandy (Paul) Eiken of Mabel, and Marge(David) Storlie of Spring Grove; 9 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; a brother Walter "Bob" Moen of Henderson, Nevada; and two sisters Jean Colburn of Paulsbo, Washington, and Marce Opfer of Waukon, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson; 3 great grandchildren; 3 brothers; and 4 sisters.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at the Calvary Evangelical Free Church in Spring Grove with Rev. David Wiersbe officiating. Burial will be in the Mabel Public Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 - 7 PM Tuesday January 20 at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel and one hour prior to services at the church.
