Gladys Wagner age 90 of Spillville died Saturday Feb. 26 at the Oneota Riverview Care Facility in Decorah after a short illness.

Funeral Mass will be on Friday March 4 at 11:00 at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville by Rev. Donald Hawes burial will be in the St. Wenceslaus cemetery in Spillville.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 3:00 till 8:00 at the Balik Funeral Home in Spillville with a rosary at 4:00 and scripture service at 7:00 there will also be visitation after 10:00 at the church on Friday

Gladys Cecelia (Huber) Wagner was born November 2, 1914 on the family farm west of Spillville, IA to George and Rose (Klimesh) Huber. She attended school in Spillville and in the Country. On April 14, 1936, Gladys married Edward Wagner at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville. To this union, seven children were born: Darrell, Rick, Jim, Randy, Judith, Jeanne and Janice. Together they farmed Ed’s home place for 12 years, then moved to Spillville for three years. In 1950 they bought the farm south of Spillville. Gladys moved to Spillville after Edwards death in 2000 and then moved to the Oneota Riverview Care Facility in Decorah April 12, 2004. Gladys was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. She enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens, taking care of her yard, her coffee club friends, making pies and cookies for her grandchildren and going to her grandchildren’s events and activities. Gladys survivors include her four sons: Darrell and Jo Ann of Calmar, IA; Rick and Myrna, Cresco, IA; Jim and Nancy, Cedar Rapids, Randy and wife Cheryl, Ft. Atkinson, IA. Two daughters; Jeanne and Konrad Verlsteffen, Coral Springs, FL and Janice Balk, Waucoma, IA. Son-in-law: Dennis Reicks, Cresco, IA. Twenty-six grandchildren; Todd & Eric Wagner, Amy Stodola, Lori Holthaus, Wendy Bohr, Dean Reicks, Cindy Frana, Carla, Brian & Aarin Reicks, Brenda Hackman, Brett Corrick, Cindy Gerner, Michael & Wally Wagner, Kurt, Korey, Ryan, Chad & Katie Verlsteffen, Darin, Tami, Brenda & Bobby Balk, Wade & Cassie Wagner. Twenty-six great grandchildren; Christina & Andrew Wagner, Venessa, Candice & Kathleen Bohr, Stephanie, Sarah & Rachel Frana, Kathlyn, Michala & Wyatt Hackman, Andrew, Matthew & Taylor Clemens, Courtney, Pete, Michael & Corrine Wagner and Megan, Madison & Dylan Verlsteffen, Alyson, Ashley and Hailey Reicks, Rebecca & Lindsey Wagner. One sister: Louise & Norbert Kapler Ft. Atkinson, IA. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edward in November 6, 2000; daughter, Judith in 2000; and son-in-law, Mark Balk in 2004; two sisters, Henrietta Pochobradsky, and Evelyn Hayek and one brother, George Huber.
