Michael O’Shea, age 58, of Ridgeway, Iowa died on Wednesday, June 22, 2005 at the Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah, Iowa following a long illness.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Bluffton, Iowa with Monsignor Edward Lechtenberg officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call on Friday from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, Decorah and after 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the church. There will be a rosary at 4:00 p.m. Friday.

Michael Joseph O’Shea was born on March 14, 1947 the son of Patrick and Marie (O’Brien) O’Shea in Decorah, Iowa. Michael attended country school and graduated from Decorah High School in 1965. He served in the US Army Reserves for two years and the University of Northern Iowa for one year. Mike worked for Marigold Dairy, was the produce manager at Jack and Jill and then went on to run his own milk delivery company with Ewald and Hilldale Dairy. Mike also farmed near Bluffton and worked for Camcar for eighteen years, retiring in 2000, due to health reasons. Mike married Denise Einck on April 17, 1971 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar, Iowa. Mike was a member of St. Bridget’s Catholic Church and the Horseshoe Association. Mike enjoyed playing poker, rummy, gambling at the Boat, playing horseshoes and was an avid Hawkeye, Packer and Cubs fan. Mike greatest love was his children and grandchildren.

Mike’s survivors include his mother, Marie O’Shea, Decorah, IA. His wife, Denise O’Shea, Ridgeway, IA. Two daughters: Rhonda Schnitzler & husband Randy, Decorah, IA and Lisa Engen & husband Greg, Decorah, IA. Two sons: Jason O’Shea & fiancé Darcy Bushman, Decorah, IA and Patrick O’Shea & wife Debbie, Decorah, IA. Seven grandchildren: Miranda, Tristan and Makenzie Schnitzler and Kellan O’Shea, Lakin, Kyzer and Lexius Engen. One sister: Patricia (Vincent) Hauber, Ridgeway, IA and one brother: John (Marilyn) O’Shea, Cedar Rapids, IA. Two sisters-in-law: Darlene Benedict & friend Steve Nelson, St. Paul, MN and Deb Palmersheim & husband Mark, Spillville, IA. Two brothers-in-law: Duane Einck & friend Nora Hemesath, Ossian, IA and Donald Einck & wife Gaye Alea, Decorah, IA and many nieces and nephews.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Patrick O’Shea; His mother and father-in-law: Edwin and Irene Einck and brother-in-law: Dean “Bear” Einck.
