Idella Onsager, age 89, of Decorah, Iowa, died on Saturday, August 13, 2011, at the Aase Haugen Nursing Home in Decorah, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Decorah, Iowa, with Rev. Allen Vik presiding. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery, Decorah, IA.

Friends may call after 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home.

Idella Grace (Wold) Onsager was born on September 18, 1921, the daughter of Theodore and Annie (Bosel) Wold in Decorah, IA. Idella attended Decorah Community Schools. She worked at the Springer Hotel and then for JC Penney as a sales clerk for over forty years. Idella enjoyed playing cards, quilting at the church and going for coffee with the girls at the Bakery. She was a member of the Decorah Lutheran Church.

Idella’s survivors include her sister-in-law: Leona Wold, Adams, MN. Five nieces: Mary Lou (Rodney) Jacobson, Toddville, IA; Alice Iverson, Decorah, IA; Rose Ann Erie, Adams, MN; and Cheryl (Steve) Jirak, Decorah, IA. Five nephews: Donald (Connie) Wold, Colorado Springs, CO; Wayne Wold, Decorah, IA; Larry Wold, Coralville, IA; and Chuck Wold, Grand Rapids, MN, along with many great nieces and nephews.

Idella was preceded in death by her parents: Theodore and Annie (Bosel) Wold. Her husband: Olaf A. Onsager on Dec. 24, 1983. Three sisters: Eldora Wold, Doris (Frank) Tyler and Myrtle (Levi) Quandahl. Three brothers: Theodore Wold, Arthur Wold and John (Irma) Wold.
