Henry M. Knudsvig, age 89, of Decorah, Iowa, died on Sunday, April 15, 2007, at the Aase Haugen Nursing Home in Decorah, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Decorah, Iowa, with Rev. Joan Mau of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in the Stavanger Lutheran Cemetery, rural Ossian, Iowa.

Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Wednesday morning at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home.

Henry Martin Knudsvig was born on April 5, 1918, the son of Severt and Anna (Mork) Knudsvig in Dover Township, Fayette County, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith at the Stavanger Lutheran Church, rural Ossian, Iowa. Henry farmed with his brother, Herman in both Fayette and Winneshiek Counties until 1955. He then went to work for Roverud Construction, working there for thirty years, retiring in 1983. Henry married Dawn Mathews on March 20, 1972 in New Hampton, Iowa. Henry enjoyed fishing, gardening, yard work, fixing things and going on drives.

Henry’s survivors include his three daughters: Rose (Andy) Kurtze, Decorah, IA; Sharol (David) Zweibohmer, Cresco, IA; and Dawn (Lester, Jr.) Erickson, Decorah, IA. One son: Tim (Julie) Boyle, Cresco, IA. Sixteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. One sister: Emma Eide, Decorah, IA and several nieces and nephews.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents. His wife: Dawn Knudsvig in 1988. One sister: Agnes Knudsvig in infancy. Seven brothers: Arthur, Peter, Otto, Reuben, Joseph, Elmer and Herman Knudsvig.
