Joyce A Baker, 77, of Mabel, Minn., died unexpectedly Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011 at her home. Funeral services are Thursday, Jan. 27, at 11 a.m. at the Burr Oak Lutheran Church in Burr Oak, with the Rev. Matt Larson officiating. Burial is in the Burr Oak Cemetery. Visitation is 4 until 8 p.m., Wednesday,
Jan. 26, at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel and an hour prior to services at the church.Joyce was born Feb. 3, 1933 in Ossian, to William and Vivian (Peyer) Breitsprecher. She graduated from the Canton High School in 1952. Later that year she married Donald H. Baker in Burr Oak. They lived in Hesper and then in 1965 they moved to Cedar Rapids. Joyce did day care in their home, did painting and staining and worked at Wessel’s Carpet in Cedar Rapids. They retired in 1996 and moved to Mabel, Minn. Don later passed away Feb. 19, 2009.
She enjoyed cross-stitch, playing cards, camping and spending time with her family. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
Joyce is survived by three daughters: Sandy (David) Ott of Cedar Rapids; Debbie (Dean) Archer of Swisher, and Tammy (Bryan) Will-coxson of Onalaska, Wis.; and son, Todd (Angie) of Cedar Rapids,
12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Bob (Eileen) Breitsprecher, Jerry Breitsprecher and Miles Breitsprecher, and nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

Joyce passed away unexpectedly at her home on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at the age of 77.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Thursday, January 27, 2011 at the Burr Oak Lutheran Church in Burr Oak, Iowa with the Rev. Matt Larson officiating. Burial will be in the Burr Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 – 8 PM Wednesday, January 26 at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel and an hour prior to services at the church.
