Caroline Buchheit, In her death Ossian loses one of her respected women.

As announced in these columns last Thursday, Mrs. Caroline Schissel passed away at the home of her son, Nicholas Schissel, Monday, August 4, 1919, after an illness of two years, death being due to the infirmities of old age.

Caroline Bucheit was born in Dearborn county Indiana January 7, 1847, the daughter of Philip and Mary Bucheit For a time she resided in Keokuk county, in the schools of which county she acquired her education. April 10, 1866, at Festina, Iowa she became the wife of Mr. Joseph Schissel who, with six children: Mary, the wife of A, F. Kleve, Freeport, Minnesota, Joseph, Ossian; Barbara, the wife of Henry Scheidemantel, Ossian: Peter F., Calmar: Nicholas and John, Ossian, are left to mourn her departure. Since the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Schissel they followed the occupation of farming, but two years ago the subject of this sketch took up her residence with her son Nicholas, where she remained until the end came.

In the death of Mrs. Schissel Ossian loses one of her best and most respected citizens and her family a mother's love. She was accorded a long span of life during which time she found a most affectionate place in the hearts of those around her. She was a devout member of the Catholic Church and also a member the Mothers' and Rosary Societies.

The funeral was held last Wednesday morning from St Francis church, Rev. M. J. Meyerhoffer officiating and six of her nephews: Henry J. Kuenen, Joseph Kuenen, Philip Bucheit, Anthony Bucheit, Joseph and Frank Schissel, bore the remains to their final resting place in St Francis cemetery.

May she rest in peace!

Those from away who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Anthony R Kleve, Freeport, Minnesota; Mrs. John Lassance, Dubuque.
