Funeral services for Donald R. Pike, age 90, a resident of West Ridge Care Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, will be held on Wednesday, September 22 at St. Mark's Lutheran Faith and Life Church. Inurnment will be in the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery with Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Donald R. Pike was born May 2, 1919 in Spring Valley, Wisconsin, to Theron and Fern (Herriott) Pike. On December 13, 1944 he married Gladys Aileen Hansen in St. Louis, Missouri. Donald was employed at Penford Products in Cedar Rapids, Iowa for 28 years and was a member of St. Mark's Faith and Life church since 1972. Donald served in the Army during world War II and was a survivor of Pearl Harbor. His family was very important to him as well as his friends, neighbors, and his patio pals. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and a Hawkeye Fan. He attended the Outback Bowl this past year.

Donald R. Pike died Thursday, September 17, 2009 at West Ridge Care Center where he had been residing. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Gladys, who died on June 9, 2007, a great-nephew Ryan Rogness and a grandson, Andrew Pike.

Donald is survived by his children, Robert D. (Janet) Pike of Longs, South Carolina, Kris (Henry) Ruprecht of Swisher, Iowa, and Craig A. (Barbara) Pike of Jacksonville, Florida; a brother Richard W.(Maxine)Pike of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, a sister-in-law, Irene Rogness of Ossian, Iowa; his grandchildren, Kathy (Tony) Marsh of Southhaven, Mississippi, Jessica (Christopher) Murphy of Greensboro, North Carolina, Brian (Tara) Pike of Aberdeen,North Carolina, Henry J. Von (Rebecca) Ruprecht of Iowa City, Iowa, Holly (Jason) Sojka of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Jonathan Pike of Jacksonville, Florida;7 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
